Shareholders Class Action Filed Against Tableau Software, Inc.

Notice is hereby given that a class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of those who purchased or otherwise acquired Tableau Software, Inc. (NYSE: DATA) (“Tableau” or the “Company”) publicly traded securities between June 3, 2015 and February 4, 2016, inclusive (the “Class Period”).

Tableau investors may receive additional information about the case by clicking the link "Join this Class Action" above.

According to the complaint, Tableau is a business analytics software company which produces interactive data visualization products focused on business intelligence. The Company develops business intelligence software designed to retrieve large volumes of data and quickly generate interactive dashboards, reports, and other data visualization tools with products like Tableau Desktop, Tableau Public, and Tableau Server.

The complaint alleges that the Company and certain of its executive officers failed to disclose to investors, during the Class Period, “that product launches and upgrades by major software competitors were negatively impacting Tableau’s competitive position and profitability.”

On July 29, 2015, Tableau reported a sharp deceleration in its license revenue growth, causing analysts to question whether competitors were hurting the Company’s sales. Following this news, shares of the Company’s stock declined $13.58 per share, or 10.7%, to close on July 28, 2015 at $113.49 per share, on heavy trading volume.

On February 4, 2016, Tableau disclosed that its licensing revenue had fallen short of expectations for the Company’s fiscal fourth quarter.  On that same day, Tableau’s Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) also confirmed that “the competitive dynamic has become more crowded and difficult” for the Company.  Following this news, shares of the Company’s stock declined an additional $40.42 per share, or nearly 50%, to close on February 5, 2016 at $41.33 per share, again on heavy trading volume.  The following trading day, February 8, 2016, the Company’s shares declined an additional $4.11 per share, or 10%.

If you are a member of the class described above, you may no later than September 26, 2017 move the Court to serve as lead plaintiff of the class, if you so choose.

A lead plaintiff is a representative party that acts on behalf of other class members in directing the litigation.  In order to be appointed lead plaintiff, the Court must determine that the class member’s claim is typical of the claims of other class members, and that the class member will adequately represent the class.  Your ability to share in any recovery is not, however, affected by the decision whether or not to serve as a lead plaintiff. Any member of the purported class may move the court to serve as a lead plaintiff through counsel of their choice, or may choose to do nothing and remain an inactive class member.
